This October, we did something truly special for children and their families in Herndon.
Vecinos Unidos held a Halloween party for families, sponsored generously by Sam’s Club Sterling.
Sam’s Club held its first companywide Day of Service in October, allowing teams to come together and support the community in various acts of volunteerism. Associates from the Sterling store set up for the event, provided all the materials, food, and giveaways to children and volunteers. And to top it all off, at the event Sam’s Club presented Vecinos Unidos with a $5,000 grant to support program operations.
We welcomed children from other community programs to join in the celebration. The children and families were thrilled! We had a pumpkin decorating contest, fall cookie decorating, and arts and crafts.
We saw several generations present and celebrating together. Some of the children arrived with parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents…and many of our former Vecinos Unidos students returned—all grown up! We were overjoyed that we could bring together so many members of our community.
