Vecinos Unidos provides a year-round program consisting of homework assistance during the school year. Our attendees are local children who need assistance with homework and other education skills. Many of these students come from homes where English is not spoken as the first language, and some experience economic and cultural factors that put them at risk of academic struggle and potentially failure.
Our program is unique because we are staffed entirely by volunteers and funded solely by individual, corporate, and foundation donations and grants.
During the school year, we help students with their homework and long-term school projects four days a week for 90 minutes each day. After homework is completed, students are required to read aloud to an adult for 20 minutes and then urged to participate in skill-building activities such as flash cards, puzzles, vocabulary development, and educational games.
To support these programs consider donating to Vecinos Unidos to provide the necessary supplies our volunteers and students need all year.
