Valensnow or Snowentine?

  • February 12, 2014February 12, 2014

If predictions hold true, there will be snow for Valentine’s Day this year, so it’s a good thing that students have been busy making cards for their friends and family all week long! There’s nothing like some pretty paper, markers, and maybe some stickers and glitter to keep students busy after their homework and reading are done. It’s also very sweet to see them think about whom to give their valentines to–teachers are popular recipients in past years. I wonder if maybe a volunteer or two will get one?

It’s also report card time and they are coming in every day. Can’t wait until they are analyzed and we see how all our students are doing. It’s great to see them improving and valuable to know where they still need our support. Every week, I notice a student doing something they once struggled with, and I know the homework volunteers played a part in their success. I’m also anxious to see the final Deep Sea projects that a couple of our older students are working on. Lots of planning went into them, teaching valuable skills.

Attendance has been great since the winter break, with numbers in the mid-teens night after night. We really want to invite more students to join us but have to have some more volunteers to make it work. If you are already with us and know someone who would be a good fit, please invite them. If you haven’t given us a try, please consider it. It’s very worthwhile!
