New Year’s Appreciations

  • January 2, 2014

Instead of resolutions, VU is focusing on appreciations. So many folks helped us out in 2013 with volunteering, donations, and services that we have to express our gratitude! The VU board is so fortunate to have delightful  students and dedicated volunteers and the great services of the Neighborhood Resource Center and Cornerstones (formerly Reston Interfaith) as well as all the other community providers we share space with.

In particular, VU has benefitted this year from a new-found friendship with the Lions Club and its student organization, the Leo Club. Through them, we have new volunteers, were able to provide vision screening, and had a generous donation of dictionaries  for all the students with an added thesaurus for the older ones. The Leo volunteers wrapped each of the gifts individually, and students received them before the winter break.  Students will truly benefit from having those resources at home to support what they do in school and at VU.

We are looking forward to our continued success in supporting student learning and well-being and ongoing relationships with our partners and supporters in 2014. So get rejuvenated during this short respite and come back starting January 6, 2014, ready to go!  Make it your resolution to join us and make a real difference in your community and our students’ futures.
