Making Preparations

  • September 13, 2013

Vecinos Unidos held a meet & greet for volunteers on September 10 to welcome everyone back and give an overview of expectations, resources, and processes. New materials were purchased over the summer and processes were refined to better ensure that all students recieve effective support during their time at the program. Afterward, many of the volunteers went for dinner and had an expanded opporutnity to get to know one another.

Many volunteers are like ships passing in the night, rarely seeing their colleagues who work on  other nights. Convening and sharing experiences once in a while is good for morale and good for the program. I hope you’ll try to attend whenever the opporunity arises.

We’re pleased to have 35 students registered to attend and nearly that many on the waiting list. More volunteers will increase our capacity to add students, so if you’re on the fence, please consider contacting us now. It’s a worthwhile effort and, as any volunteer will tell you, very rewarding!
