Homework Done=Time for Educational Games

Even the rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of the kids who keep on coming to get help with their homework, read, and play games. Seventeen students and 16 volunteers turned out on a rainy Wednesday, and after working diligently to complete their assignments and read to volunteers, most students had time to play some of the great educational games that VU has acquired.  The games incorporate word or math skills along with logic and the always valuable basic etiquette involved with playing with others. There are a few games that the kids figured out and have to teach me and other volunteers!

It also came to VU’s attention that some students don’t have dictionairies at home, so that will go on the wishlist for 2013. With the continuation of generous donations of time from all our volunteers and monetary donations from our supporters, VU will be able to provide services to students and the community for years to come.
