New Year, New Space

  • December 31, 2012December 31, 2012

So much has happened in the last few weeks! During the week before the winter holiday, volunteers prepared gift bags for students and distributed them on the final day of homework for the year. You can see from the smiles on their faces how much it was appreciated.  That day was also memorable because it was also the last day of the program at the Connections for Hope building. Board members did lots of planning and preparation so that the  move would be seamless for the students and volunteers. A special thanks to President Barbara Sorenson and board members Akanksha Raol and Roberta Pense for making sure everything was ready to go.

Beginning on January 7, 2013, VU has a new home at the Neighborhood Resource Center in Herndon. Actually we’re moving back to where we started from! All the C4H partners are moving with us so the adventure continues, as do the integrated services.

Thanks to VU board members Barbara Sorenson, Mary Ann Kral, John Porter; volunteers Matt and Trish Rogers; and others from Floris Methodist Church, all the furniture, school supplies, resources, books, and refrigerator arrived in their new spot and are set up and ready to go. The students will receive the same wonderful service they always have.
