Spiffing Up for a New School Year

  • August 28, 2012August 29, 2012

The VU summer program ended last week on a happy, noisy note as students and volunteers hit the lanes for some bowling and then shared pizza.  It was a blast. Students also recieved school supplies to help them prepare for back-to-school. Sadly, we also said good-bye to a long-time attendee who is moving into middle school. We all watched her grow into a lovely young lady who developed both academic and social skills during her time at VU.  Can’t wait for her to stop by and say hello while picking up her younger sister.

Even though the kids are gone for a few weeks, there’s lots of activity. Volunteers are busy labeling new books and reorganizing the book carts as well as taking inventory of supplies and general spiffing up. Everything has to be just right to welcome our students back.

We’re also going through volunteer forms to make sure all our paperwork is complete. If you want to help out with the new school year, please contact us now so you don’t miss the meet-&-greet for volunteers. It’s a great way to get started making a difference for young people in your community.
