Bugs, Lizards, and Snakes, Oh My

  • August 8, 2012

The kids are having  so much fun this summer! One evening last week was nostalgic for the volunteers and loads of fun for the kids with an evening of old-fashioned games. They learned to play hopscotch, old maids, spoons (I don’t even know what that is!), and jacks. They also loved air hockey and Barrel of Monkeys.

Reptile day, however, has to be the coolest summer adventure. Six students and six volunteers were wowed by the volunteer and “entertainers” in the form of frogs, lizards, snakes and bugs from Reptiles Alive! As you can see from the pics, the six girls were inquisitive and only a little squirmy as they learned about and even touched the fascinating reptile visitors. They were also well-informed and  answered lots of questions knowledgably.

The day ended with volunteer Sandy’s  delicious snacks…and I’ve been assured that there weren’t any frog-leg cookies!
