It’s been a whirlwind of fun, food, and festivities over the past few weeks for the kids in the VU summer program. Highlights include making pizzas and ice cream smoothies and creating tie-dye T-shirts, which many kids wore when they went to the Reston Zoo on a field trip. Check out the photos of the kids feeding the animals and you can see just how much everone enjoyed that outing! I hear that the big yellow python was met with plenty of squeals and a good deal of curiosity and that the camel was also a hit.
This week, a guest speaker taught the kids about fingerprints and forensics, giving them a little hands-on science experience. They have played lots of new board and computer games; written cooperative stories; read new books; and contemplated philosophical questions, such as What is silence? Hmmmm. I’ll ponder that one too.
I hate not being able to volunteer every day in the summer because I miss out on so much! If you want to join in, just contact us and join the fun.
